Everyone is familiar with the term "destined by fate." Some may ask: Is there really such a thing as "fate"? If so, can we change our predetermined destiny? The answer is affirmative—yes, we can change it through our efforts!
The book "The Four Teachings of Liao Fan" was written by Mr. Liao Fan from the Ming Dynasty, as a family instruction to educate his son Yuan Tianqi about the truth of fate, the standards for distinguishing right from wrong, and the importance of rectifying one's faults and doing good. He shared his own experiences of transforming his fate to illustrate: initially, he verified the accuracy of destiny, and later, he further understood its origins, demonstrating that people can completely master and reshape their fate and strive for blessings.
As human civilization has reached a high level of development today, we have accumulated a wealth of historical data and cosmic knowledge. People are searching for the truths of the universe and life to resolve issues related to existence, including life and death. Buddhism, this profound treasure, can meet these needs. "The Four Teachings of Liao Fan" elucidates many fundamental principles of Buddhism, making it a foundation for Buddhist teachings and practices.
In 2001, Chen Xiaoxu adapted the true legendary story of Mr. Liao Fan of the Ming Dynasty under the name of China Shibang Cultural Development Co., Ltd., inviting director Zheng Dasheng, son of director Huang Shuqin, to specifically invest in producing a television series titled "Traditional Chinese Moral Teaching—The Four Teachings of Liao Fan."
The series consists of four episodes: "Chapter One: The Study of Destiny," "Chapter Two: The Method of Correcting Mistakes," "Chapter Three: The Way of Accumulating Goodness," and "Chapter Four: The Effects of Humility and Virtue," with a total duration of 165 minutes. The production unit is Chen Xiaoxu's China Shibang Cultural Development Co., Ltd., and the overall filming consultant is Master Jingkong.
"The Four Teachings of Liao Fan" showcases Yuan Liao Fan's teachings to his son on how to conduct oneself, how to eliminate disasters, and how to cultivate goodness and accumulate blessings.
The series is directed by Zheng Dasheng, who previously won a silver award at the 32nd Vienna International Film Festival for his documentary feature film "A Farmer's Directorial Career."
