Shawei Village is a settlement on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert. Due to changes in the natural environment, Shawei Village faces increasingly severe survival challenges. However, in this remote village, the villagers share a common hobby: football. The children here play football year-round among the golden poplar forests and rolling sand dunes, each developing strong skills and talents. The people of all ages in the village regard football as a source of joy and a sport without ulterior motives. Yet, this happy village is disrupted by the arrival of a man named Maimaiti. Maimaiti is a minor official from the county who, by chance, was assigned to Shawei Village. Reluctantly and uneasily, he wishes to achieve results quickly and return to the county. He notices the football talent of the children in Shawei Village and, in order to organize a football team, Maimaiti creates a benevolent but colossal lie, claiming that if Shawei Village's football team can win the regional championship, the children will get to attend the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Maimaiti's irresponsible jest causes a huge uproar, and a beautiful lie ignites the Olympic dreams of the villagers, rallying everyone in the village to make the children's Olympic dream come true. Maimaiti, having gone too far, has no choice but to lead the Shawei Village Dream Football Team in their quest for the regional championship.
