Todd Haynes will make his directorial debut with a documentary focusing on the legendary rock band The Velvet Underground. The film is currently untitled, but Haynes has stated that it will draw on Andy Warhol's style and will be rich in cultural significance. The documentary will feature interviews with the surviving members of the band. Its release coincides with the 50th anniversary of the band's classic debut album, "The Velvet Underground & Nico." Todd Haynes announced that he will team up with Polydor and Verve Label Group to create this untitled biopic centered on The Velvet Underground. He stated, "I am extremely excited to collaborate with the Universal Music team on this project. This is my first documentary as a director, and it is about one of the most radical, influential rock bands in music history, The Velvet Underground."
