In the 1996-1997 school year at a high school in Zhudong, Taiwan, seven boys from different grades—soon-to-be graduates Zheng Xiyan (Feng Xiaoyue), Tang Qijin (Zhang Jie), Lin Jingchao (Lin Qitai), new student Xie Zhisheng (Qiu Yicheng), Huang Zhenghan (Li Yuecheng), the indifferent Li Yaoxing (Wang Bojie), and Lin Bozhu (Shen Weinian)—bond over their shared love for baseball, leading to a deep friendship. Besides passionately cheering for their favorite players at the professional baseball league, they often engage in activities that only youthful boys love to do, resulting in frequent punishments from their instructors. Zheng Xiyan's greatest talent is picking up girls; despite having a girlfriend in his class, Huang Yunqing (Chu Jiaqing), he still flirts with girls he encounters while hanging out with his buddies. The closest friends to him are Tang Qijin and Lin Jingchao, with the former sharing a pager with him and the latter often helping him tidy up his room. Xie Zhisheng and Huang Zhenghan seem more disciplined; they are frequently advised by class leader Shen Peixin (Ji Peihui) to keep away from "bad boys." Li Yaoxing and Lin Bozhu present a contrast: one cares little about the future and prioritizes brotherhood, while the other always worries about being expelled. The seven boys spend many simple yet colorful youthful days together. One evening, Zheng Xiyan falls off his motorcycle and soon falls into a coma. While he lies quietly in the hospital, his brothers begin to face the trials of friendship and undergo the baptism of growth.
