The Gates family is a famous family of adventurers. Ben (played by Nicolas Cage) learned a shocking secret about his family when he was a child: the location of the buried national treasure from the founding of the United States is hidden in the Declaration of Independence. Despite his father's disapproval of the Gates family getting involved with the national treasure, Ben embarks on a treasure hunt with computer whiz Riley (played by Justin Bartha). Ben's treasure hunting plan quickly hits a dead end. Meanwhile, British tycoon Ian (played by Sean Bean) has also set his sights on the treasure; he sends people to infiltrate the U.S. National Archives to find the secret of the treasure in the Declaration of Independence and plots against Ben. After Dr. Abigail Chase (played by Diane Kruger) learns of Ian's sinister intentions, she decides to help Ben find the national treasure…
