Constantine (played by Keanu Reeves) was born with the ability to see the demons and angels that wander the earth, which caused him great suffering as a child; he once attempted suicide in hopes of ending his pain. He later learned of an agreement between God and Satan, stipulating that neither can directly intervene in the world but can only indirectly entice people to choose between heaven and hell, and that suicides cannot enter heaven. Thus, he began to use his gifted abilities to help eradicate the demons in the world, seeking a ticket to heaven in return. One day, while helping a female police officer investigate her sister's mysterious death, Constantine inadvertently uncovers a plot by the archangel Gabriel and Satan's son to collaborate and rule the earth. Of course, Constantine must do everything in his power to prevent this darkness from descending upon humanity…
