The treasures of Dongling have disappeared. Chiang Kai-shek and Yan Xishan arrived in Beiping one after another upon hearing the news. Chiang called a meeting of military and political officials overnight, and Zhu Shuguang, who tipped him off about the situation, gained Chiang's appreciation. Chiang instructed Yan to quickly judge the culprit behind the tomb raiding. Sun Dianying discovered the treasure was missing and interrogated the third concubine overnight. To protect the treasures, Na Xinting encountered a group of masked Taoists who intercepted the treasures, and he was blindfolded and taken to the deep mountains. The Taoist priest's granddaughter, Shen Zhuohong, has a crush on him, while the Taoist Shen Hui becomes jealous and, under the pretext of not allowing outsiders into the mountains, attempts to kill Na Xinting, but is sternly stopped by Shen Jinxiu and Zhuohong. Guo Song, in order to save Na Xinting, defects to Zhu Shuguang's side. Chiang Kai-shek praises Guo Song for his contribution to protecting the treasure, elevating Zhu Shuguang to Deputy Commander of the Northern Army. He orders Yan Xishan to organize a military court to judge the tomb raiding culprits. The cunning Yan Xishan, in order to preserve his strength to contend with Chiang, deliberately delays things, asserting that the court cannot start until Na Xinting is captured. Sun Dianying seizes this opportunity to breathe easier. He sends people to search for the missing treasures and Na Xinting, while also bribing various officials. Na Xinting is imprisoned in a mysterious mountain stronghold. To uncover the truth, he goes on a hunger strike and refuses to drink. Zhuohong, disregarding mountain rules and laws, leads him to explore the dangerous areas of the stronghold. Shen Hui, unable to kill him, then steals the treasure down the mountain to sell it, and is followed by Qin Delu, who has contributed to Sun Dianying’s treasure theft success. Qin Delu discovers the whereabouts of Na Xinting and the treasures. Sun Dianying's secret order to besiege the mountain is learned by the third concubine, who secretly informs Guo Song to go up the mountain to rescue Na Xinting. With ulterior motives, Shen Hui incites various troubles. The Taoist priest Shen Jiu orders Na Xinting to be tied to the skinning pillar, putting Na Xinting’s life in imminent danger.
