The film has always been associated with high art, and it seems rare for anyone to connect it with popular or folk elements. However, in a certain small town and village in Henan, an event took place that bridged the gap between cinema and the common people. The village's film projector operator, Cai Youcai (played by Li Yixiang), has always had a dream: to make a movie himself. This is not a joke; Youcai truly begins to pursue his dream of filmmaking. Centered around the theme of Japanese soldiers entering the village, Youcai starts looking for actors and constructing scenes. However, the non-professional background of the actors and funding limitations lead to a chaotic and humorous shooting environment. After various hardships, Youcai remains determined and perseveres. This film is based on a true story and is entirely in the Henan dialect. The real-life situation involved Zhao Lanqing, a farmer from Xingyuanpu Village in Lingjing Town, Xuchang City, Henan Province, who mobilized villagers to collectively write, direct, and perform in a film called "Japanese Soldiers Enter the Village," pioneering the movement of farmers making their own movies.
