Due to failing his college entrance exams, urban youth Yuuki Hirano (played by Shota Sometani), who has just bid farewell to high school, stands at a crossroads in life. He is accidentally drawn to a beautiful girl featured in promotional materials for a forestry training program and, in a moment of impulsiveness, heads to a remote mountain village in Mie Prefecture with no mobile phone signal to undertake a year-long forestry training course. Initially, he is lackadaisical and unmotivated, drawing the ire of his senior, Iida (played by Hidemichi Ito). Just as Yuuki is about to escape, he unexpectedly runs into the cover girl, Naoki Ishii (played by Masami Nagasawa), which inexplicably draws him back to the dormitory. After completing the initial training, Yuuki accompanies senior Iida to Kamikurak村, where he begins practical training and learning under his master (played by Ken Mitsuishi). The harsh environment polishes this urban youth's pride and impetuousness, and before he knows it, he has grown into an excellent lumberjack capable of standing on his own... This film is based on the novel of the same name by Shion Miura.
