On a gloomy rainy night, the businessman Sevinc (played by Ercan Kesal), who is preparing to run for election, accidentally hits a pedestrian with his car. In a state of extreme fear, he chooses to ask his driver İsmail (played by Rifat Sungkar) to take the blame, promising him money after he gets out of prison. İsmail's family situation is very poor; his child is disinterested in school, and his wife Hacer (played by Hatice Aslan) is critical of him. In an effort to improve their living conditions, he resolves to accept Sevinc's conditions and become a scapegoat to better his family's life. However, things are not as straightforward as they seem. To save her husband, Hacer hopes Sevinc will intervene on their behalf, offering her body as a bargaining chip. This morally compromising deal ultimately leads the couple into an even more complicated predicament... The film's director, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, won the Best Director Award at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.
