The story takes place in the 1990s, where medical student Qiu Shui (played by Han Geng) and his dorm friends Hou Pu (played by Zhang Boyu), Huang Qi (played by Yang Di), and Xin Yi (played by Zhao Yiwei) earn pocket money by writing martial arts novels while joking around and studying. He once had a profound first love, but now enjoys campus romance with the extremely disciplined girl Bai Lu (played by Qi Xi).
