18-year-old Matus (played by Christian Malheiros) hopes to provide a better life for his working-class family in the countryside. He, along with other boys from the town, makes his way to São Paulo for work, completely unaware of what awaits them: they arrive at a junkyard, beginning to work day and night, while the cruel manager and exploiter, Luca (played by Rodrigo Santoro), takes their IDs and threatens them with dire consequences if they attempt to escape. However, as Matus comes to understand, even the boss is subject to others. What kind of person must he become to find a way out? "Seven Prisoners" is a tension-filled thriller that portrays the dark side of today's economic recession and the struggles within it, delving into what power, solidarity, and betrayal truly mean. The film is produced by Oscar-nominated producers Fernando Meirelles ("City of God") and Ramin Bahrani ("The White Tiger"), and is the second feature film by writer and director Alexandre Moratto ("Socratic"), confirming his strength as a new force in Brazilian cinema.
