The story takes place during World War II when France is occupied by the German army, and Nazism runs rampant locally. Maurice (played by Batyste Fleurial) and Joseph (played by Dorian Le Clech) are Jewish brothers living in France. Their father supports the family with a barbershop, and although life is difficult, the family bonds are very close. The Germans require every Jew to sew a yellow Star of David on their outer clothing, and society's tolerance for Jews is rapidly decreasing. The brothers face bullying at school due to their heritage. Sensing the severity of the situation, their father decides to send Maurice and Joseph ahead to escape to a free zone while he follows later, and the family reunites in Nice. Thus, the two children embark on their journey to escape.
