The story takes place in a small city far from the metropolis, where the aimless young man Sato Tatsu (played by Ryoma Takeuchi) once worked in a mine but chose to escape after witnessing an accident. In his daily life, he wanders through the various corners of the city, until one day he meets a young man, Ooshiro Taku (played by Masaki Suda), at a small marble shop. Taku had previously served time in prison for assault and was later paroled, finding a job through his sister Chinatsu (played by Chikage Awashiro) at a friend's company. Their family is extremely poor, with their father ill in bed, and Chinatsu selling her body in a third-rate bar, while also being forced to submit to Taku's boss (played by Kazuya Takahashi), enduring humiliation. Their first encounter seems to spark mutual feelings between Tatsu and Chinatsu, bringing their lonely hearts closer together for warmth. However, the twists of fate have only just begun... This film is adapted from the only novel by the late writer Taiji Sato.
