Nader (played by Peyman Moadi) and Simin (played by Leila Hatami) are a married couple with a daughter named Termeh (played by Sarina Farhadi). Simin wants the three of them to move abroad, but Nader firmly opposes this because his father has Alzheimer's and needs care. They go to court over their differences and prepare for divorce, but the court rejects her request. Upset, Simin returns to her family's home. After she leaves, Nader struggles to manage alone and hires a caregiver, Razieh (played by Sareh Bayat), to take care of his father. However, Razieh encounters difficulties with her father's bathroom issues, which, according to the teachings of the Quran, she finds taboo. Razieh's daughter is also a distraction for her. After several incidents, Nader comes home one day to find his father tied to the bed, and in his rage, he pushes Razieh. To his surprise, Razieh, who is pregnant, suffers a miscarriage, and her husband, furious, takes Nader to court. Each side presents their own arguments, but the truth turns out to be unexpected... This film won the Golden Bear and Best Actor and Best Actress Silver Bears at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
