The story takes place at the dimly lit Huangpu River wharf, where a group of thugs is chasing a young girl, preparing to commit violence. Suddenly, a young man in a long black coat appears; he is a loyal henchman of the gang leader Jin Si, known as Black Panther (played by Yuan Yuan). The appearance of Black Panther forces the thugs to retreat, showcasing his prestige and authority in the gang. Upon seeing the girl, Black Panther is surprised to find that she is Zhao Xiaobo, a good friend from his childhood. This encounter reignites Black Panther's feelings for Xiaobo, who is currently searching for her father, missing for fifteen years. During their conversation, Black Panther reveals information about another friend, Luo Lie, explaining that Luo Lie left the Bund to escape persecution and has been out of contact ever since. While Xiaobo is taking a shower at the hotel, a thug known as Lao Liu suddenly barges in, threatening to assault her. Black Panther arrives just in time to engage in a fierce battle with Lao Liu. Despite being injured, Black Panther ultimately succeeds in driving Lao Liu away. In that moment, Xiaobo feels Black Panther's protection, and their feelings for each other come to a head.
