A farmer named La Tiaozi (played by Chen Jianbin) encounters a beggar who is a fool (played by Jin Shijia) in town, and the fool follows him home. La Tiaozi puts up a missing person's notice, and soon someone claims the fool. Then, family members claiming to be related to the fool begin to appear one after another, accusing La Tiaozi of selling the fool. Troubles follow one after another, and La Tiaozi realizes he has been deceived but finds it hard to explain. He cannot understand how something good has turned into something bad. He starts to clear his name in the simplest way a farmer knows. In order to find the fool, he becomes another fool who keeps bothering others... The film is adapted from the short story "Running Moonlight," and is Chen Jianbin's self-written, directed, and acted debut work.
