It feels like the end of the world, as floods sweep across the Earth, turning the world into a vast ocean, empty and lonely. An old man lives a solitary life in this world, either gazing out from his balcony or watching TV to pass the time, with almost no one to communicate with. As the water level continues to rise, the old man can only keep adding stories to his house, like stacking blocks, with the house resembling a giant tower standing in the deep sea. While moving furniture, the old man's pipe accidentally falls into the water and slips down through the gaps between the layers. The pipe holds memories he shared with his late partner, and the old man is determined to dive to retrieve it. However, this action seems to open the floodgates of memory, and past recollections begin to rush forth. The man is unable to contain himself, sinking layer by layer to search for those precious memories long sunk to the bottom of the sea... This film won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2009.
