The movie "The Ministers of Namsan" is based on the ministers of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) and the political conspiracies they led. Originally a novel that reveals the political underbelly of Korea, it has been reimagined around the stories of former KCIA ministers Kim Jae-kyu and Kim Hyung-wook. In the second half of 1979, the YH Trade female workers' incident, the removal of New Democratic Party president Kim Young-sam from the National Assembly, and the Busan-Ma incident in October erupted, creating political instability. The conflict between KCIA minister Kim Jae-kyu and the hardline head of the presidential security office grew, leading to Park Chung-hee's increasing dislike and distrust of him. On October 26, 1979, in the KCIA residence in Gyeongui-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, Park Chung-hee and the head of the presidential security office were shot dead by Kim Jae-kyu with a pistol during a banquet.
