Separated in two worlds, the Elric brothers use their respective means to attempt a reunion. The elder brother Edward crosses the "gate" to the real world. In Munich, Germany, in 1923, a world war is about to break out. Unable to use alchemy in this world, Edward collaborates with a young man named Alphonse, who closely resembles his brother, to study rocket technology, hoping to return to their original world with the help of rockets. On the other side, in the alchemical world, the younger brother Alphonse practices alchemy, dressing like the former Edward, searching for ways to bring his brother back with national alchemists. Meanwhile, a mysterious organization in Munich begins the ritual to find the ideal country "Shamballa," opening the "gate" that connects the alchemical world and the real world.
