The core idea of this work is psycho dive. This is a technique that allows one to dive into a person's mind to obtain memory information, discover hidden traumas, and even perform mental manipulation. The premise that this is a scientific technology conducted by individuals with specific skills and expertise using specialized equipment, along with the establishment of a genius (or extraordinary talent) who conducts psycho dives without such means as the protagonist, is a characteristic of the work. However, the first appearance of the profession "psycho diver" in the works of Yumemakura Baku is not in "Majuu Gari (Erotic Edition)." Nearly two and a half years before the series began (in the February 1983 issue of "Monthly Novel" with "Dark Festival of Female Bodies"), a short story titled "Get Out of the Way" published in the October 1980 issue of "Kisou Tengai" features a psycho diver named Akira Touma. Additionally, in the short SF novel "Gordias no Musubi" by Sakyo Komatsu, which won the 9th Seiun Award (Japanese Short Story Category) in 1978, a profession called "psycho detective" or "psycho explorer" also uses a machine called a converter to infiltrate the subject's mind. Notably, the protagonist who self-identifies as a "psycho detective" explains his work as something akin to a "diver" cleaning dirt from a fish tank, suggesting that the term "psycho diver" from Yumemakura Baku may have its origins there (the author has stated that "converter" originates from Komatsu's work). ------------------------------ Psycho Diver: Manic Bodhisattva (Released on May 21, 1997) Released by: Toei Standard Size / 49 minutes ------------------------------ Staff Executive Producer: Yamamoto Mataichirou Planning & Producers: Maruyama Masao, Takahashi Naoko, Sakamoto Masanori Screenplay: Kawamura Toshiaki, Urabata Tatsuhiko Director & Storyboard: Kōbe Mamoru Character Design & Animation Director: Koga Makoto Mechanical Design & Mechanical Animation Director: Yamamoto Masafumi Art Director: Nishikawa Ryouichirou Cinematography: Saito Akiyo Sound Director: Honda Yasunori Music: Hiramana Akihiko, SORMA, TA-1 Music Director: Konishi Kayo Production Producer: Hayakawa Mitsuai Assistant Director: Odaka Yoshinori Production Admin: Minagawa Mamoru Production Progress: Terada Shuji Promotion Producer: Oda Motohiro Theme Song: "THE END" (Lyrics by: Tsukiumi Neko, Composed by: GARDEN, Sung by: Iwanou Junko) Insert Song: "WARFARE-BEWARE" (Lyrics by: Tsukiumi Neko & Ohashi Yuki, Composed by: TA-1, Sung by: Iwanou Junko) Animation Production: Madhouse, Studio Junio Production: Toei Video, Film Link International, Good Hill Vision ------------------------------ Cast Doku Island Juuta: Nakata Jouji Kanou Yuki: Iwanou Junko Ayuhara Kyouko: Fujita Yoshiko Angelica: Takahata Atsuko Kuroiwa: Ito Hiroshi Kudo: Seki Shuu Sawada: Hosoi Osamu Hitman A: Sagabe Kazuyasu Hitman B: Egawa Kousei Sophie: Tanaka Atsuko Lance: Sonobe Keiichi Operator A: Arizawa Toshihiro Operator B: Kamiya Hiroshi Mechanical Voice: Nakamura Naoko
