Sam is an Algerian-French man who has just been released from a French prison and found a job at a construction site through a parole program. However, he soon becomes entangled with a group of criminals who demand that he transport drugs. When he refuses, they attack and threaten him. To escape the turmoil, Sam flees to Thailand, where he starts a new life. There, he meets a Thai-French woman named Mia, and they fall in love and adopt a little girl named Dara. They dream of opening a restaurant on the beach, and to achieve this dream, Sam begins participating in Muay Thai competitions to raise startup funds. However, tragedy strikes again when a local criminal named Narong tries to force Sam to smuggle drugs at the airport in exchange for the beachfront property he desires. After Sam refuses, Narong's men kill Mia and kidnap Dara. Believing that Dara is also dead, a devastated Sam decides to take revenge for his family's death. With the help of his friend and mentor Hansa, Sam tracks down and kills all those responsible, including Narong. In the final confrontation, Sam discovers that Dara is actually alive and has returned to the village where they lived. When Sam returns to the village, he finds Dara safe and sound. His friend Songba, consumed by jealousy, betrays Sam and ultimately chooses to commit suicide as an act of atonement. Sam leaves the village with Dara, determined to stay away from violence and crime, and to start a new life with his daughter Dara.
