Peter (Colin Farrell) is a kind-hearted man who, out of desperation, joins a gangster organization called "Short Tail" and becomes a thief. After an accident, Peter offends the gang leader, Somnus (Russell Crowe), which leads to a life-threatening situation. To save himself, he must embark on a journey of escape. One day, Peter breaks into the mansion of media tycoon Isaac (William Hurt) to commit theft, only to encounter Isaac's daughter, Beverly (Jessica Brown Findlay). Beverly's tenderness and beauty quickly capture Peter's attention, and the two fall deeply in love. However, disaster strikes when Beverly dies of pneumonia, plunging Peter into a world of pain and despair. In an unexpected turn of events, Peter enters a cloud wall surrounding the city and disappears without a trace. When he reappears, a century has swiftly passed.
