For the musician Rémi (played by Patrick Dewaere), life becomes increasingly difficult. Not only is he stagnant in his career, but his wife's unchanging appearance and dull married life also drive him nearly to madness. At this critical moment, he is shocked yet somewhat relieved by the news of his wife’s death in a car accident, and his 14-year-old stepdaughter Marianne (played by Ariel Besse) becomes a burden. Marianne's biological father wants to regain custody of her, but surprisingly, the young Marianne prefers to live with her stepfather. Under the same roof, the emotions between this "father and daughter" without blood ties become ambiguous and hazy. Initially refusing Marianne's passionate declarations, Rémi finds himself torn between rejection and temptation. Can he uphold the last line of ethical morality?
