Like most female college students, Barbara (played by Louise Bourgoin) has a youthful, beautiful appearance and limitless expectations for the future. Her relationship with her boyfriend Nicolas (played by Pio Marmaï) further convinces her that she is experiencing the best time of her life. However, the arrival of a child shatters all this beauty; she cannot imagine that her childlike self is now to become a mother. In hesitation and anticipation, Barbara chooses to keep the child, but the birth becomes another nightmare for her. Faced with this unprotected little life and the heavy responsibilities of motherhood, Barbara retreats. What she cannot understand is, becoming a mother is supposed to be a happy thing, so why is there so much sadness and fear hidden within?
