Emma (played by Rachel Bilson) and Will (played by Tom Sturridge) have been good friends since childhood, but they lost contact after Emma left her hometown. Emma later became an actress and returned home due to her father's illness. Emma had almost forgotten about Will; however, for years, Will had always loved Emma and followed her, surviving by performing magic tricks on the roadside. When Emma and Will meet, she learns about Will's constant following and asks him to stop. Emma also reveals to Will her betrayal of her boyfriend; she had an affair with another man.
