Humbert, a French professor in college (played by James Mason), had a haunting experience in his youth; his first love tragically passed away, leaving him with complex feelings towards youthful girls for many years thereafter. Due to work requirements, Humbert seeks housing and meets the widow Charlotte (played by Shelley Winters) and her enchanting daughter Lolita (played by Sue Lyon). Charlotte becomes infatuated with the elegant and serious university teacher, eager to engage with him; while Humbert becomes enamored with the youthful Lolita, even reluctantly marrying Charlotte in order to be closer to the spirited girl. He writes all his feelings for Lolita in a diary and locks it in a drawer. Until one day, Charlotte opens this Pandora's box, and their fate changes from that moment on... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Vladimir Nabokov.
