Located in the remote Kamitahara Village, it is a settlement experiencing severe population decline and a high level of aging. The arrival of Doctor Iino Haru (played by Sukekiyo Naka) has resolved the elderly residents' concerns about having no access to medical care; he is friendly and skilled, revered by the locals as a deity and held in high esteem. The young physician Sōma Keisuke (played by Eita), who came here for an internship from Tokyo, initially does not understand Iino's willingness to embrace solitude, but as he makes more house calls, he builds a simple friendship with the locals and gains a deeper understanding of Doctor Iino. However, on a certain night two months later, Doctor Iino mysteriously disappears, causing panic and concern among the villagers about his safety. The officer in charge of the case (played by Yoshitake Katsu) seems to have other thoughts; after a series of investigations, the identity and secrets of Iino Haru slowly come to light...
