This film is adapted from Philip K. Dick's short story "Adjustment Team." David Norris (Matt Damon), who is naturally suited for the political stage, is a rising star in politics. During his confident campaign for a New York State Senate seat, he unexpectedly meets the beautiful ballet dancer Elise (Emily Blunt), and they fall in love at first sight. Just as their feelings deepen, David is suddenly abducted by a group of mysterious people in black suits, hats, and sunglasses. This group, claiming to be from the Federal Bureau of Control, tells David that he is destined to be president and that Elise will become a world-renowned choreographer. Their love would jeopardize both of their futures. The Bureau will go to great lengths to prevent the two from meeting again. Will David, knowing the truth, pursue his dreams and abandon Elise, or will he fight against the Bureau for true love?
