This film is a disaster movie set against the backdrop of the 9/11 attacks in the United States, depicting the sudden calamity that occurred at that time. On a beautiful morning of September 11, the fire department's alarm suddenly rang out as they received news of the terrorist attack that caused the collapse of the World Trade Center. Firefighter John McLoughlin (played by Nicolas Cage) and his colleagues immediately geared up and rushed to the scene, where they were confronted with horrific sights: the collapsed buildings were billowing thick smoke, and injured people were groaning in pain. To rescue those trapped inside the World Trade Center, John disregarded the danger of the crumbling structure and, along with his teammates, rushed into the building. However, before they could take action, they were trapped under the debris from a secondary collapse. When John awoke amidst the rubble, he discovered that all of his fellow firefighters had perished, with only one officer, Will Jimeno (played by Michael Peña), still alive. They waited for rescue teams in the hellish ruins, facing dwindling oxygen and the ever-looming threat of death, as fear, uncertainty, sorrow, and despair slowly overwhelmed them.
