Tamako Sakai (played by Atsuko Maeda) was born in a small, ordinary town in Kofu. After completing her university studies in Tokyo, she returns to her hometown and becomes a lazy, aimless recluse. Tamako's father, Sannichi (played by Suon Ko), runs a sporting goods store. He divorced her mother early on, and with his eldest daughter married and living her own life, he and his 23-year-old daughter are left to rely on each other. Although he often complains about Tamako's unmotivated lifestyle, he seems willing to work tirelessly for her. Sannichi juggles business, laundry, and cooking, while Tamako spends her days reading manga, sleeping in, eating leftovers, and daydreaming, living in her own little world. As the seasons change, the father and daughter have grown accustomed to their monotonous existence, quietly observing the natural decay of everything around them while hoping for a change in their lives... This film won 9th place in the 2013 Eiga Junpo Top Ten Films.
