This film is adapted from the story of the famous baseball player Jackie Robinson. He was born on January 31, 1919, and passed away on October 24, 1972, becoming the first African American player in Major League Baseball history. On April 15, 1947, he took the field as the starting first baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers while wearing jersey number 42. Before this, Black players were only allowed to play in their own Negro Leagues.
