One evening, Ding Juan went to meet her boyfriend Li Liang and discovered him dead in his room. Officers Qian Kai (Xu Min) and Chen Minghui (Zhong Xinghuo) from the Donghai City Public Security Bureau arrived at the crime scene quickly after receiving the report. After forensic examination concluded that Li Liang's death was a homicide, the two noticed clues such as a tiny bird feather on Li Liang's wound and a clear fingerprint on a teacup. Among the notes in Li Liang's notebook was a line that read, "Ah San, I will never let you go!" After the investigation, the two found out that there were two acquaintances of Li Liang known as Ah San. One was a person nicknamed "Rubber Fish Ah San" who worked at the Huangshan Qingxi Farm and had financial disputes with Li Liang, and the other was Fang Mingshan (Yan Xiang), a photographer from Donghai TV who had deep conflicts with Li Liang. After gathering evidence, Fang Mingshan became a major suspect, but the case was not that simple.
