This film is a two-dimensional illustrated animation that perfectly combines the music of the great rock band The Beatles with pop visual art, featuring 15 classic songs from The Beatles throughout the film. The story follows Paul McCartney, a member of The Beatles, as he arrives in Pepperland in a semi-dream state, a place that despises music and is under attack by the Blue Meanies. Old Captain Fred gathers the members of The Beatles to board the Yellow Submarine and defend Pepperland. The music of The Beatles runs throughout the film: it begins with a string arrangement by George Martin depicting the peaceful Pepperland, followed by Ringo Starr's performance of "Yellow Submarine," symbolizing the vitality of the Pepperland people. However, the good times are short-lived as the evil Blue Meanies begin to destroy the joy and tranquility of Pepperland. The captain summons the members of The Beatles to "Come Together" and unite against the Blue Meanies, with the members of The Beatles disguised as Pepperland soldiers defeating the enemy to the music of the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," upholding their belief that "All You Need Is Love," ultimately saving Pepperland.
