The story begins with the Greek goddess of discord, Eris (voiced by Michelle Pfeiffer), a goddess who revels in chaos. She steals the "Book of Peace" and frames Sinbad (voiced by Brad Pitt) for the crime. The prince, Proteus (voiced by Joseph Fiennes), who was tasked with safeguarding the "Book of Peace," is a childhood friend of Sinbad. The theft of the "Book of Peace" causes him to fail his mission and leaves him unable to report back to his kingdom, where the ministers unanimously believe that Sinbad is the thief. However, Proteus believes in Sinbad's innocence and offers to stake his life to help Sinbad retrieve the "Book of Peace." Proteus's fiancée, Marina (voiced by Catherine Zeta-Jones), secretly boards the ship to keep an eye on Sinbad. Will Sinbad withstand the trials and rescue his friend by reclaiming the "Book of Peace"? What kind of love will blossom between him and Marina amidst their hardships? The film is adapted from the Arabian folk tale "The Voyages of Sinbad" from "One Thousand and One Nights."
