In the vast and peaceful primeval forest, the happy Smurfs are preparing for the annual Blue Moon Festival. Just at this joyful and busy moment, their nemesis—the evil wizard Gargamel (played by Hank Azaria) and his pet Azrael intrude into the Smurfs' secret territory. The frightened Smurfs scatter in all directions, with the poor clumsy Smurf (voiced by Anton Yelchin) accidentally running into a waterfall that is said to have claimed the lives of 99 Smurfs. Ultimately, Clumsy along with the Smurf rescuers Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Brainy get caught in a mysterious vortex and find themselves in Central Park, New York. In this completely unfamiliar world, they receive help from Patrick (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris), who is in the cosmetics industry. To return to the great forest, the Smurfs try everything possible. Meanwhile, Gargamel and Azrael also arrive in New York... This film is based on the comics created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo and his wife, which were previously adapted into a TV animated version in the United States.
