In the cold, remote northern country, people have lived here for generations. On this pure and harsh land blooms a flower from another place, both gentle and strong. Her name is Kazami Minako (played by Chieko Baishō), who, against her family's opposition in her early years, resolutely followed her lover to the north to run a farm. Years ago, her husband passed away, and Minako must continue to support the farm while raising her son, Takeshi (played by Hidetaka Yoshioka). The hardships she faces are known to no one. One day, a silent man with a resolute face passes by the farm, then returns to ask Minako to let him work there. Although she has many misgivings, Minako takes in this man named Tajima Kōsaku (played by Ken Takakura). Kōsaku carries a painful past, and in this place far from the city's hustle and bustle, he immerses himself in work, forming a deep friendship with Takeshi and winning the trust of those around him. His determination slowly opens Minako's heart... This film is the final installment of the "Minako Trilogy," the first two being "Family" and "Hometown."
