In a medieval village inhabited by elves, the righteous wizard Kaldorf (voiced by Jim Cummings) expels the evil and powerful witch Derizelda (voiced by Vicki Lewis). Unable to compete, Derizelda retreats in anger, while her innocent and kind-hearted niece Athena (voiced by Kelly Stables) is allowed to stay. During this time, Athena also takes in the kitten Tom and the mouse Jerry. Athena's sensitive identity, combined with the trouble caused by her cat and mouse, leads to ongoing discrimination from the elves. One day, Tom and Jerry accidentally discover a dragon egg by the river, which was lost by Derizelda's bumbling minions.
