In Tehran, reporter Farazmand went to cover the case of young Hossain Sabzian, who was arrested for fraud. It turns out that Sabzian, an unemployed painter and film enthusiast, impersonated the renowned director Mohsen Makhmalbaf and gained the trust of the wealthy Ahankhah family to borrow money to make a film. After the incident, Sabzian was apprehended. Director Abbas Kiarostami conducted a documentary-like investigation into the case, interviewing the police, the entire Ahankhah family, and Sabzian himself. During the interrogation, Sabzian expressed regret for deceiving the Ahankhah family emotionally, but he stated that he did it out of a love for art, insisting that if he had money, he would indeed make his own film. Moreover, pretending to be director Makhmalbaf gave him confidence. In the end, the plaintiff Ahankhah family withdrew their lawsuit, and Sabzian met the real Makhmalbaf, who took the young man on a small motorcycle to revisit the Ahankhah family.
