"March Comes in Like a Lion" is adapted from the bestselling manga of the same name by Chica Umino. The film is divided into two parts, with the second part primarily focusing on the protagonist's outlook on the "future": he will begin a new life with the people he loves. A year after meeting the three sisters from his neighbor, Rei Kiriyama's life has started to change; he gradually realizes his true self, which has been sealed away within him since childhood. Outside of shogi, Kiriyama begins to explore a brand new and warm world. In shogi competitions, he battles against incredibly talented and passionate professional players, while in life, he finds warmth from the neighbor sisters, which shines on him like sunlight, gradually melting his heart of ice. The combination of shogi competitions and a warm family life allows him to feel fulfilled while also learning how to love.
