In the ordinary town of Toyama, near 60, Tetsuro Takishima (played by Tomokazu Miura) is an experienced tram driver with 42 years of driving experience. He has maintained a faultless record for 35 years, focusing solely on work while neglecting communication with his family. In a month, Takishima will face retirement; he is planning a leisurely vacation life with his wife, Sahoko (played by Kumiko Goto), while feeling a mix of emotions and reluctance to part from his lifelong dedication to the job. However, Sahoko expresses her desire to return to her nursing career, leading to a heated argument between the already estranged couple, and she storms out. At work, a troubled Takishima has to take on the responsibility of training the newcomer, Ota. He can never truly know the secrets and feelings that his wife harbors. The retirement day is getting closer, and it seems the Takishima couple's marriage has reached its end...
