Synopsis: The governor of Shuntong Prefecture, Qi Shaocheng, is wrongfully arrested. The chief inspector executing the orders, Lu Yuanhe, is sworn brother to Qi Shaocheng; however, due to an order from Lord Cao Qianyue, he cannot defy it despite their brotherly bond. Qi Shaocheng is known for his integrity and honesty as an official, earning him a good reputation. After being imprisoned, righteous individuals, undeterred by their exhausting journey, send a message to Tiè Feihuā of the capital’s supervisory office, urging him to seek justice and restore Qi's innocence, while rooting out the traitors. Qi Shaocheng's troubles stem from the mysterious disappearance of a million taels of silver from the imperial treasury. Tiè Feihuā, having come across Qi Shaocheng's official tablet, decides to seek a royal sword and head to Shuntong Prefecture. Unexpectedly, the Left Supervisor, Lord Fang, reveals that Cao Qianyue is the adopted son of the palace's chief steward, Sun Zhi. The West Factory had already heard whispers about Cao Qianyue's pursuit of Qi Shaocheng. Unable to procure the royal sword, Tiè Feihuā, respecting Qi Shaocheng's integrity and the unusual circumstances, sets off at night with Liu'er, riding hurriedly to Shuntong Prefecture. The moon shines cold and clear. The Qi residence, sealed by the authorities, appears desolate and eerie. Homeless, Madam Qi and Qi Sheng, along with his sister, find refuge with the maid Xiaoyue and are spared from wandering the streets. Just as Tiè Feihuā arrives at Shuntong Prefecture, Qi Shaoshan "commits suicide in fear of punishment" in prison. The news reaches Qi Sheng, who rushes to the jail only to find his father has hanged himself, leaving behind a cryptic note: "As the moon sets and crows cry, the dark imprint on the emerald grass, who truly is honest? Old Mountain Temple, green bamboo heart." The matter concerning Qi Shaocheng links to finances, and the note directly relates to the missing treasury silver. Under pressure from the West Factory and unable to control local officials and militia, Tiè Feihuā discreetly launches an investigation. He resorts to a "self-harm tactic," imprisoning everyone in the Qi household suspected of involvement, then arranging for Liu'er to break into the jail, in hopes of drawing out the biggest suspect, Cao Qianyue. Qi Sheng successfully "escapes," leaving Cao Qianyue in a state of panic. Both Cao and Lu Yuanhe know that Qi Sheng has a powerful mentor, Jiang Yixiong, the leader of the transport guild. Should Jiang Yixiong intervene or uncover the note's meaning, it could lead to greater trouble regarding the missing million taels. Realizing this, Cao Qianyue sends assassins after him but is always thwarted by a mysterious protector. With Xiaoyue's aid, Qi Sheng finds the transport guild, inciting their greed for the silver. "On the fifteenth of August, at the moment of the pig's hour," the time for hiding silver that young Xiaoyue has heard from Qi Shaocheng becomes crucial to Tiè Feihuā's plan. At the pig hour, in the bamboo grove in front of Lianshan Temple outside the city, the corrupt Cao Qianyue slips up, leaving undeniable evidence against him. To escape blame and clear his name, Lu Yuanhe kills Cao Qianyue to silence him. With the transport guild as witnesses, Tiè Feihuā clears Qi Shaocheng's name. Before returning to the capital, Tiè Feihuā feels for Qi Sheng and Xiaoyue, whose emotions cannot come to fruition, as fate plays tricks on them, making life difficult.
