"Namhan Mountain Fortress" is adapted from the bestselling historical novel of the same name published in South Korea in 2007. Set against the backdrop of the 1636 Imjin War during King Injo's 14th year, it tells the story of the Qing forces attacking Joseon, with King Injo (played by Park Hae-il) and his ministers, including Choi Myung-gil (played by Lee Byung-hun) and Kim Sang-hyeon (played by Kim Yoon-seok), being besieged in Namhan Mountain Fortress. For 47 urgent days, they are cut off from the outside world and find themselves in a dilemma. Under the intense pressure from the strong Qing army, Choi Myung-gil advocates for peace for the sake of the people's lives, while Kim Sang-hyeon insists on continuing the fight against the Qing.
