Drew (Orlando Bloom) is at the lowest point in his life, having caused billions in losses for the company and facing the inevitable fate of being fired by his boss and dumped by his girlfriend. In his despair, he devises a series of perfect yet comical suicide plans, attempting to end it all. A phone call interrupts his suicide process—the news of his father's death brings Drew an urgent task: he must return to the distant Elizabeth Town to handle the aftermath. Subsequently, the events unfold like a series of wonderful metaphors, helping Drew see hope again from the depths. He meets flight attendant Claire (Kirsten Dunst) on the plane; she is beautiful, generous, and understanding, always offering comfort when Drew feels most lonely and down. Meanwhile, Drew's mother, though often neurotic, deeply infects her son with her passion and optimism for life. Under the warmth of love and family, Drew gradually regains his confidence in life and becomes stronger, leading him out of his low point.
