His daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan), whom he hasn't seen in 8 years, is at odds with him. However, her boyfriend, stock trader Jake (Shia LaBeouf), admires Gordon. Jake is enthusiastic about clean energy projects, but his boss and mentor, Louis, advises him to back off and even gives him some money. Unexpectedly, the company is burdened with debt due to negative news, and investment banker James takes the opportunity to acquire it. Desperate, Louis commits suicide on the tracks. Jake is determined to take revenge for his mentor. He approaches Gordon for guidance. Gordon, aware of Jake's relationship with Winnie, proposes a deal: Jake creates an opportunity for him to get close to his daughter, and he will teach Jake how to manipulate capital. To seek revenge, Jake decides to take risks, but the turn of events in his emotions catches him off guard…
