The story takes place during the French Revolution, where a lawyer from London, Sydney (played by Ronald Colman), falls in love with a beautiful woman named Lucie (played by Elizabeth Allan). However, Lucie is already in love with another man, and soon marries a young French nobleman named Charles (played by Donald Woods). Sydney buries his feelings for Lucie deep in his heart and sincerely wishes happiness for the newlyweds.
