"Gushanzi: The Map of the Great East" tells the story of the geographer Kim Jeong-ho during the Joseon Dynasty, who dedicated himself to drawing maps of the Korean Peninsula after his father lost his life due to a faulty map, and his ongoing struggle against fate. The film is based on the novel "Gushanzi" by South Korean novelist Park Heung-sik, which reveals the life story of Kim Jeong-ho. This is the second adaptation of Park Heung-sik's novel onto the big screen, following the 2012 blockbuster "Silver Linings" starring Park Hae-il.
