At the end of the Heian period, natural disasters and human calamities led to chaos in the world, with corpses lying everywhere. In this terrifying era of cannibalism, a cursed life descends upon the human world. The young boy (voiced by Masako Nozawa) has been feeding on human flesh since childhood, becoming a fearsome cannibal. Until he meets a compassionate monk (voiced by Kōichi Yamadera), he finally receives the name "Asura," and the words "Namu Amida Butsu" plant the seeds of humanity's revival in his heart. In the desperate journey as he is hunted down, Asura receives meticulous care from the beautiful girl Wakasa (voiced by Megumi Hayashibara), and the kind flower in the wild beast-like boy's heart begins to bloom. However, in an era of chaos and lost humanity, what ultimately remains for Asura? This film is adapted from the original work of the manga artist George Akiyama (real name: Yūji Akiyama).
