Jin, who comes to Columbus from Seoul due to his father's coma, encounters a local girl, Casey. The two embark on an architectural tour of the city, sharing their anxieties and aspirations with each other, gradually penetrating the cold structures and opening emotional fractures. Facing the interchange of identities as residents and tourists, and the ebb and flow of life and death, they learn to relocate and reposition themselves in new relationships, much like objects in a space. Kogonada's debut narrative feature vividly showcases his keen visual language, with a symmetrical and stable compositional structure reminiscent of modernist architecture, flowing with a subtly limited yet underlying plot that hints at the essence of architectural space as a realm for human life and emotional emergence.
