The story takes place in a fictional city—Edison City—where the rulers and law enforcers collude, and criminal forces emerge one after another. Transactions of money and power occur every day, and this darkness and corruption are like a huge, heavy hand that controls the entire city and the people living in it. Pollack (played by Justin Timberlake) is a journalist still possessing a childlike innocence. Sharp and clever, he quickly notices the various evils happening in this city. With grand ideals, he decides to expose them one by one. Pollack’s actions soon anger those he is investigating, and they decide to eliminate this naive kid. In danger, Pollack has to turn to his boss, Ace (played by Morgan Freeman)—a journalist with a conscience. With the help of Ace and his friend Prosecutor Wallace (played by Kevin Spacey), Pollack is gradually getting closer to the truth.
